Our aims
To extend pupil awareness of:
- cultural and religious traditions within the community of school and their involvement in the life of the wider community.
- man's responsibility for, and his influence on, the world.
- festivals, symbolism and the underlying meanings of the festival.
- communication, through sacred writings and through stories with a message.
At the same time teaching and learning should focus on the search for meaning encouraging children to:
- ask questions
- give answers
- reflect in a positive way on their own experiences
- explore their own basic human feelings and needs allowing them to develop their own personal identity.
- consider their relationship with others, starting with their family and friends and encompassing their attitude towards others, the need for unselfishness and the ability to share.
