‘The Seasons’ by Sundeep

I was outside, looking at the leaves.

It was summer;

My ice-cream was melting.

The seasons were changing.

It was autumn now,

The leaves were falling in my face.

It changed to winter.

I put on my coat and scarf,

I made a snowman.

Finally, spring came.

I took off my coat and scarf

Everything was growing

And the animals were awake

Script, by Hannah

Narrator: Once upon a time, a maid called Cinderella was cleaning the castle where she lived with her ugly step sisters and their ugly mother.

[Exit Narrator, enter ugly sisters and their mother]

Step mother: Cinderella, come here!

Step sister 1: Come on!

[Cinderella enters]

Cinderella: What do you want?

Step sister 2: Pass me the box over there and be careful with it. You know how fragile it is.

Cinderella: OK

Step sister 1: Mum, what now? Can we open it?

Step sister 2: Yeah, can we? Can we please?

Step mother: No, you must wait until it is needed and that could be soon.

Step sister 1: Yes.

Step mother: Cinderella, get the post, quickly.

Cinderella: OK

[Cinderella gets the post from off stage and walks back on with it.]

Cinderella: Here you are. (She gives the post to step mother, who opens it.)

Step sister 2: What does it say?

Step mother: It says that we are invited to a Grand Ball tonight and we have to wear pretty dresses.

Step sister 1: I can’t believe it! We have been invited to a Ball!

Step mother: Yes, we have! Go and get our ball gowns, Cinderella!

Cinderella: OK. (She exits)

Step mother: I wonder what she will do whilst we are gone?

Step sister 2: She will probably work.

[Enter Cinderella with nine dresses in her hands.]

Cinderella: Here you are.

[They all get dressed, do their make up and get ready to go – except for Cinderella.]

Step mother: Come, girls, let’s go dance with the prince and all the other people. (Exit, followed by sisters.)

Fairy Godmother: (Off stage) What are you doing just sat there? You should be in a beautiful ball gown with those girls.

Cinderella: Who is that?

[Enter Fairy Godmother]

Fairy Godmother: My name is Fairy Godmother, but you can call me Fairy G, and will you please answer my question?

Cinderella: I’m their maid. I can’t go to Balls.

Fairy Godmother: Well then, you are about to go, but you must be back by midnight, before you turn back.

[Fairy G turns a pumpkin into a carriage and other creatures into horses and other grand things and finally turns Cinders into a beautifully dressed girl.

Fairy Godmother: Off you go to the Ball!

Cinderella: ‘Bye and thank you.

[Enter dancers, then Cinderella arrives. The prince enters and everyone watches as he picks a girl to dance with – Cinderella]

Prince: You look very pretty, tonight. Um, what is your name?

Cinderella: My name is Cinderella.

Prince: Well, Cinderella, that is a nice name. I’m Prince Philip.

Cinderella: That’s a nice name.

Step sister 2: Mum! What is Cinderella doing here?

Step mother: I don’t know.

Step sister 1: Why is she dancing with the prince in a beautiful ball gown?

Step mother: I don’t know, but I’m stopping it!

Narrator: The prince and Cinderella stop dancing and go outside. They are talking as the clock strikes midnight. Cinderella runs off and her shoe comes off.

Prince: I have to find Cinderella!

Narrator: the prince and some other people go looking for Cinderella. They go to the ugly step mother’s house. All of them try on the shoe, but it doesn’t fit them. But it does fit Cinderella. Philip and Cinderella live happily ever after. The End.

Diary Entry, by Francesca

Dear Diary,

Today I heard on the news that an American satellite is heading into Earth’s orbit. They are tracking down the satellite all round the globe. They said to mind your head in case scraps of the satellite fall to earth, if any bits remained. Apparently, it’s the size of a double-decker bus.

I believe it will land in the ocean. There is the smidgest chance it will fall in the UK. It’s really scary to think that year may be about to be the end of the world. I wonder where it will land. I hope it won’t land in Southampton.

Diary Entry, by Lucia

Yes! We’ve just arrived at the wedding. It’s taking ages. Why is the bride (Suzanne) not coming? OMG! The dress is beautiful! I hope she likes her present. The pictures are taking ages and then we spread confetti everywhere.

The starters were delicious. I first thought it was egg, lettuce and ketchup, but it was melon, ice-cream and berries. The main course was chicken and chips. Yummy! Desert was delicious ice-cream. Then there was dancing. I’m going home now. Boo hoo!!!
