‘The Fire Dragon’, by James
“The fire dragon is approaching,” said Tom.
“Look! It has a chain around its neck. That is what’s controlling him,” said Elina. Then she got her bow and arrows out and shot an arrow. The fire dragon dodged and breathed fire over them. Tom and Elina quickly dodged the fire and jumped behind a rock. Elina only had two more arrows left. She took her bow and shot. The arrow hit the chain but did not break it. “Wait,” said Tom. “I have a better idea.” Tom ran to the dragon’s tail and climbed up on it.
“Tom, be careful!” said Elina. He started running up the dragon’s tail. He was going to run up the dragon’s back and slash the chain off, but the dragon swung his tail and Tom was flung back to Elina. “Wake up! Wake up! The dragon’s coming closer,” said Elina.
At this point Tom was very, very angry. He got up and ran like the wind and reached the chain. The dragon swung his neck. Tom grabbed hold of the chain, took his sword out and broke the links. The dragon stopped swinging his neck and safely put Tom down. It flew away.
“Thank goodness you are OK,” said Elina.
“Yer, me too.”
‘Me and My old teacher’, by Lauren
At school one day, Mrs Sidebottom (our old teacher) was teaching us Maths. It was so boring. I had nothing to do. The teacher did not know that I was talking with my friend. “This is so boring,” I said.
Then Hannah, my best friend, said, “I know what we can do. We can creep out of the classroom.”
“Isn’t that a bit naughty?” I said. “But it’s a really good plan. Let’s go!”
So, we got down on our hands and knees and crawled out. When we got to the front of the table we said, “Yes!” but then Mrs Sidebottom heard us and we got into BIG TROUBLE. We had to go all the way back to our desks. The teacher was writing some more sums when she asked who knew the answer to ten plus one. I didn’t put my hand up so she picked on me and before I even spoke the bell rang. I was so happy as I went out to break with some grapes. I was so hungry.
I was using a hula hoop. My record was six minutes fifty nine seconds. Break had finished. When we got back from break we found our teacher’s arm stuck in the side of the blackboard. We were really scared. I got the teacher’s phone and called the fire brigade. They came as soon as possible. The whole school was in our classroom. It was a very big classroom. It was weird but on the other hand we were all laughing. Then Hannah and I ran down the stairs and got the head teacher to have a look. She said I am the best student she had ever met and gave me a special badge to wear for ever. I was really, really happy. I just went mad.
But still, after an hour, she was still stuck, so we had to phone an ambulance to come. Everybody had to go home except Hannah and me. “Ow! This is scary, isn’t it, Hannah?” I said.
“Yes, really scary.”
They had to put on special costumes to wear and some gloves and weird hats. We were not allowed to see the operation.
We thought she was going to die. It was finished in ten minutes and she survived and was out of the board. We were all so happy.
All the children came back to school but Mrs Sidebottom could not teach any more because she had a sling on her right hand, so she could not write. Everyone was so sad. Mrs Sidebottom retired and got a different job where she did not have to use her right hand a lot. She got a job as a nurse and worked with my mum so I was really happy for her.
Hello, Everybody. My name is Himani Spyla and I am seventeen years old. I work as an internationally famous spy.
There are six different reasons why I think I should stay in this hot air balloon.
Firstly, I have special balloon repair kits. All you have to do is fill the powder in this packet into this gun and shoot it to the top of the balloon which will get us back and floating in the air again.
Secondly, I am a very slim girl, so my weight will not take much weight out of the balloon. What difference will two stone make?
Thirdly, I have a pack of sinking, everlasting shark food. We can drop it from the hot air balloon and the sharks will swim down to get it and they will carry on eating, seeing as it is everlasting food.
Fourthly, I have inflatable rafts which can be thrown from the balloon and as soon as they touch the water, they will pop up. Then we can jump on a raft.
Fifthly, I have brought some shark costumes so we can dress up as sharks. The sharks will think we are sharks as well so they will not try to eat us. Finally, I make wonderful spy films which everyone loves. Imagine if I died, people will miss my fantastic films. Think about the world without Himani Spyla film.
So, has that made you feel that you should vote for me? If you do so, I will give a little something to you as a gift of appreciation.
Science Experiment Report, by Mariam
Which shape has the least water resistance?
|
Conclusion:
The downward cone had the least water resistance when the pointed end of the cone was facing down, so it zoomed off like a fish was pushing its way through the water.
The disk had the most water resistance because it was very flat and if a shape has a point facing down it helps it get faster ad it goes down.
The test was not fair because where the plasticine dropped from a height, the heights were not the same.
A persuasive letter, by Mariam
Dear Mrs Pearcey,
Everyone, except me, decided to have new playground equipment, but I thought there would be a big argument to try the new equipment first.
But I think I have a better idea. If young children (like lower school) don’t have anything to do, they could go to the After School Care room during break time and they could do anything there. This also helps them avoid getting knocked over and fall down. (Some of the upper school could come too.)
Yours sincerely,
Marion.

Dear Mrs Pearcey,
Year 4r would love some swings.
We would absolutely love some swings because the playground hardly has anything in it except for the pirate boat which is for infants only.
I hope you can consider this idea because everybody would love it and soar through the clouds.
Yours sincerely,
Emma
Letter to a celebrity, by Jordan
Dear Mr Depp,
I think in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ you were amazing. In ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ you were spectacular when you were fighting Will Turner. I thought I was actually there. I think in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ you were amazingly funny. I wish every night I have a replica of the hat you wore in ‘Alice in Wonderland.’
Yours sincerely,
Jordan
PS I live in Southampton, in England. I hope you write back. Thank you for reading this.
Letter to a celebrity, by Lauren
Dear Mrs Pearcey,
In our school I think we should have a play room.
We should use the playroom when it is wet break instead of going to the classrooms and there should be lots of games and a snack area to not mess up in the play area.
There could be an age restriction so young ones don’t bump heads on the older children.
I would be very happy if you could do it.
Yours sincerely,
Lauren
